NORTH OTAGO COURSING CLUB.
A Committee meeting of the above Club was held yesterday, when there were present —Messrs. Lintott (Chairman), Otterson, Allen, Comiell, Iledlcy, and Ronayne (Secretary). After the minutes of the previous meeting had been read and confirmed, the Secretary stated that the meeting had been called for the purpose of appointing a slipper for the next meeting of the Club, and also to appoint field stewards, and to elect representatives to attend the meeting of delegates to be held at Oamaru.
Mr. Turner, of Tokomairiro, was appointed slipper for the next meeting at a salary of two guineas per day and necessary expenses, and should he require additional assistance, the Secretary was empowered to provide the same. The Secretary was authorised to advertise for six men to act as beaters.
Mr. Brydone was re-elected field marshal, and the following gentlemen were elected field stewards :—lion. M. Holmes, Messrs. Fleming, Steward, Duncan, R. M'Auley, Otterson, O'Meagher. J. Reid. jun., Menlove, Hedley, lionayno, _ Council, Caverliill, T. M'Auley, \V. 0. Smith, Rich, Allen, Lintott, M'Dooakl, Surman, Turnbull, Orbell,M. Studholmo, and B. Studholmo.
The Secretary was requested to write to Messrs. Teschemaker, M'Auley, Orr, and Turnbull for permission to course over their grounds. The privilege of selling cards for the Waterloo meeting was sold to Mr. < • Draper for the sum of LS. It was uGoided that no charge for admission to the ground should be made. Messrs. Ronayne and Connell were appointed a sub-committee to arrange for the lunch. It was mentioned by the Secretary that Inspector Thompson had offered the Club the services of the police to prevent the sale of liquors by those not authorised to do so.
The Treasurer stated that a great number of members had not yet paid up thensubscriptions, and according to the rule of the Club the Committee had power to erase the names of any persons not having paid up. The Hon. M. Holmes and the Secretary were appointed representatives of the Club at the meeting delegates of the various Ooursiyig Oiubs iu New Zealand, to be held in Oamaru shortly. It was decided to ask Sir Hercules Robinson to attend the ensuing Waterloo Meeting, and ic was also decided that the Secretary request the Mayor to wrtie to Wellington for the purpose of procuring a holiday 011 the first day of the meeting. The Ist of August next was fixed as the date on which nominations for the Derby would close, Mi, Lintott and the Secretary were appointed to arrange preliminaries fur having a Sapling Stakes, of 3 guines each, at the end of the season.. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
