(reuter's telegram, perpress association.) Melbourne, June G. There was no excitement to-day. It is believed the crisis has passed, the action of the Associated Banks having created confidence. Intense excitement prevailed yesterday in the interprovincial towns. The shareholders of the Australian and European Bank have resolved to pay a call of LI per share, in order to enable the bank to re open on a restricted scale. An early meeting will be held of the depositors and the directors to arrange a settlement of claims. The bank will probably re-open soon. Most of the branches have discontinued. Confidence is manifested in the directors. The National Reform League propose a monster bazaar to raise funds for the acclimatisation of Californian salmon. English salmon are a failure in "Victoria. The authorities have been requested to send vaccine matter to Fiji. A ship with small pox on board has arrived at the islands. At present the disease is confined to the ship. Mr. M'Gregor, the Government whip, is insolvent. The City of Melbourne Bank paid 30,000 sovereigns from its own resources on Thursday, and the Australian and European Bank will re-open if the depositors continue their support, June 7. The Aconcagua brings news from Capetown to the 18th May. Cetewayo has made fresh overtures of peace, and sent an envoy to Colonel Clark, the officer in command at Fort Chelmsford.
