PUKEURI.
(FROM OXJH CORRESPONDENT.) June 6. The entertainment given by the Wallace Lodge, 1.0. G.T., last evening, was an unqualified success. Every available scat was occupied, and although all the singers were amateurs, they acquitted themselves very creditably, and their efforts seemed to l>e appreciated by the audience, encores being the rule, not the exception. It would be needless to particularise : all did their best to make the evening pleasant and profitable. The claims of the temperance movement were strongiy and forcibly advocate :i by several of the brethren ; and it is to be hoped that many of the non-Templars present went away convinced the temperance movement is " the right," and will send in their names for proposition by next Thursday. Several of the brethren from Oamaru attended, and rendered good service, and after the usual votes of thanks the meeting broke up at a little past 10 o'clock. It is to be hoped that the G.T.'s will soon givo the Pulceuri folks another opportunity of spending such a pleasant evening. To-day the election for a member of the Weymouth sub-division of the Road Board took place here, and Mr. William Dennison was duly elected without opposition.
