At the coroner's inquest touching the death of Hodgkins, the jury returned a verdict of found accidentally killed, but added a rider stating that the immediate cause of accident was the slippery condition of the break gear, which was preventable by the use of wooden blocks. CmiISTCIIURCII. June 5. The Water Supply Committee of the City Council have authorised the City Surveyor to lay down the first cylinder of the Waiinakariri as a trial measure. Operations will be begun at once.
