OTEPOPO ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of this Board was held yesterday. There were presentMessrs. Henderson (in the chair), Diehl, Falconer, M'Donald, A. Marshall, G. Marshall, Mitchell, and Anderson. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and, on the motion of Mr. Falconer, seconded by Mr. M'Donald, adopted. The outward correspondence was read and approved. The following inward letters were read : From Messrs. P. Williams and L. G. Fenwick, complaining of the impassable state of the Island Stream fcrcl above Maheno.— Mr. A. Marshall proposed, and Mr. M'Donald seconded, that the members for the subdivision should attend to the matter. From the Treasury, intimating the payment into the bank of the subsidy for the half-year ending June 30. From the County Council, announcing the completion of the Allday Creek bridge, and formally handing it over to the Board for maintenance. From Mr. D. Booth, intimating the sale to Mr. W. H. S. Roberts of sections 58 and 59, block V. From the County Council, asking if the Board would be willing to resume control of the road from the railway station to Herbert, via Burgh and Monk-streets, provided the Council take over the road leading past the schoolhouse.—The Board agreed to the proposal. Mr Mitchell moved that tenders be invited for the office of Ranger.—Seconded by Mr Falconer. Mr M'Donald proposed that the consideration of the proposal to cut M'Kay's hill be deferred till next meeting. Mr Mitchell moved that notice be given to Messrs Peter Walker and James Robertson to cut the gorse on the roads adjoining their properties, and that the Engineer be instructed to report on the road between sections 21-20 23-24, block IV., at next meeting. Mr. Mitchell moved that the Chelsea members be authorised to inspect the bridge at Wylie's, with power to act, and that°the Allday members be similarly appointed for the bridge near Mains' gate. The Clerk stated that he had received from Dr. Smith, for presentation to the Board, the Practical Ordinances of Otago, by Barton, and a large number of the Acts of the General Assembly.—A unan- ; imous vote of thanks was passed to Dr. Smith. , Several accounts were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
