Pinfire 1 Resolution 2 Expedition 3 Rata and Merlin also rah, There was a magnificent race between the first two, Pinfire winning by a head. Time, 3 min. 52 sec. Ladies Purse of 30 sovs. Welter weight for age. ! Merlin 1 Grey Momus 2 Glauy's 3 This was another grand race, the two I leadjere being locked together all up the straight, Merlin making a final effort just opposite the stand, and winning by half a head. Time, 2 min. 5G sec. Fltixg Handicap of 50 sovs. One mile. Otawa, Bst 1 Peep-o'-Day, 6st 91b 2 Lady Ellen, 7st 121b 3 Venus Transit, Expectation, Parawhenua, Confident, and Luna also ran. It was a splendid race all through, the horses keeping well together till the straight was reached, when Otawa brought up, and won by half a length. Time, 1 min. 48 sec. Otawa has been made first favorite for tho big handicap.
