NEW ZEALAND RIFLE ASSOCIATION'S MEETING.
Nei.sox, March 13.
On completion of the fourth match the camp was struck, and the men returned to town this afternoon. There was a large muster at Nelson. The Volunteers paraded under Major Lean, and were reviewed by Colonel Packe. After the match prizes had been distributed by Mrs. Suler, cheers were given for that lad}-, and the I '"shop responded on her behalf. Cheers were given for each member of the sf .ff, and for Major Pitt, after which Captain Wilson, on behalf of the Association, presented Mrs. Pitt with a handsome brooch, being the first bullet fired (by that lady) at the meeting, artistically set in gold. Cheers were also given for the Carbine and Rifle Champions, and to the representatives of each of the teams of the North and South Islands, and to exchampion Paynter. The Bishop, in a speech, complimented Captain Stevens, secretary of the Association, and Colonel Packe referred to the reception in Nelson most warmly. There is a ball by the citizens this evening.
