KAKANUI ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the Kakanui lload Board took place at their offices, Tyne-street, this morning at 11 o'clock. Present—Messrs. Gilchrist (chair), Gemmell, Elder, Manning, Allen, Morton, and Hedley. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed; and the outward correspondence was read and approved. Letters were received as follow : From the Town Clerk, with reference to the road-line through section 42, block 'VI., Oamaru district. The Clerk was instructed to intimate that the Chairman and Mr. Hedley had been appointed to wait upon the Oamaru Stone Company (Limited). From the Board's solicitors re impounding. Correspondence was read from Mr. W. Fen wick, and also from the Board's solicitors, with reference to the exchange of road line to the Slate Quarries. The matter was referred to the engineers for report at the next meeting. From the N.Z. and A.L. Company, asking the Board to open the old road line through sees 13 and 14, block VIII., Oamaru. The matter was referred to Mr. Elder.
From Mr. W. H. Teschemakker, asking that the Board open up road line in block 1., Kauroo. It was ordered that plans and specifications be prepared for the work. It was also ordered that tenders bo called for works on Beach-road to Kakanui and at Reidston. It was resolved that the attention of the County Council be drawn to the large amount of traffic on the road line at Island Stream, and that they be asked to take action with reference to the construction of ,:;u proposed bridge. A plan of road lines exchange in South Oamaru was laid on the table.
it v.-;is resolved that a meeting of ratepayers be held on the 17th, for the purpose of deciding on this matter. The solicitors forwarded a memorial to the Governor, for the purpose of acquiring land for a road-line from Mr. W. Fenwick. It was resolved that the same be signed and sealed, according to the Act. Accounts amounting to L 382 los 8d were passed for payment, and a vote of thanks having been given to the Chairman, the Board adjourned.
