One of the events of the year—the Christchurch Agricultural and Pastoral Show — commenced yesterday morning, and, although it is generally understood that the first "day of the Christchurch Show is reserved for the judges, and an admission fee of ss. was fixed it is supposed for the purpose of excluding the public, the attendance was large. There were present people and exhibits from various parts of .the Colony, far and near. The animals exhibited are far superior in nunrber and quality to those of last year. The following are some of the results :

The Hon. Mathew Holmes has obtained for Lincolns 23 points, and Messrs. Menlove and Sutton 12 each. Young Banker is first in the Best Entire Class, and Laura Macpherson is first in the fillies.
