SPECIAL CABLEGRAM.
[from our own correspondent. , Dunedin, October 24. The following cablegrams have been re ceived by the Star : Melbourne, October 24.
His Lordship, Jaspar, Cap-a-pie, and Chester are in splendid fettle. Jaspar is increasing in favor for the Cup. Bosworth is at 5 to 2 for the Derby. Roodee is reported crooked. Sydney, October 24.
The New Guinea expedition lias proved a total failure. The parties are nearly destitute, and many are down with the fever. Nothing has been discovered. A number of men at Port Moresby are in a wretched condition, and are unable to return. It is proposed to send a rescuing vessel.
