P. Cunningham and Co., arrived at the outer anchorage about noon to-day. She is a new iron vessel of 573 tons, and was limit at Sunderland in the year IS to. She is commanded by Captain ly«>n and t.m is her first voyage to this colony. She Jlett Lyttelton for this port on Saturday,, the 14th inst. Her captain reports :—Left Lyttelton •with heavy southerly gale which lasted until Saturday evening, and afterwards experienced calms and north-easterly winds until arrival as above. , She arrived ui the offing last night, but not seeing the sea isght on the Breakwater, as noshed as Lyttelton, she aheered off again iintif. this morning.
SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Bluff, September 17. The barque Clifton was floated off the rocks at daylight this morning. Inveuoahgiil, September 17. The Orcti was got off yesterday afternoon, and taken to the pier. She had strained horaelf severely, and when surveyed to-day it was found that several of the frames of the midship section were broken. J his is the extent of the damage. Her plates are intact, only one rivet having started, and Iter gear is not affected. She is to ship .enough timber to stay her, and return at once to Port Chalmers to be docked. Wksttokt, September 11. Arrived—Brigantine Augusta, from Port Chalmers, with railway iron for Weatport Colliery Company. , The steamer Tararua last night, on her run from Nelson to Westport, got aground for four hours at the Spit, close to where the Queon Bee was wrecked. The cause is assigned to aberration of compasses, owing to having a quantity of Tarau&ki titanic sand aboard as cargo. , ~ Auckland, September i/. The fore and aft schooner Tubal Cain was launched by Niccol and Sons to-day. She will probably be put on the Island trade. The Rotorua took 24 passengers for Sydnoy, and the City of New York 15 for San Francisco. Both sailed this aftewaon. Tho Pareora has brought 17 passengers, and a cargo valued at L 34.500, from Lonaor.She experienced fearful weather. The maintopgallant mast, part of the bulwarks, tho steering apparatus, and a number ot sails were carried away. Mejj'Bouknk, September 17. The Albion sailed to-day, and the Ringarooma yesterday, for Wellington direct.
