LICENSING COURT.

The quarterly sitting of the Licensing Court was held at noon to-day. The fob I lowing Commissioners were on the Bench : —T. \V. Parker. E.<q , R.M. (Chairman). J. Cdall and J. Beid, Esq.'s. J.P.'s. Tiie following- applications were disposed of : KEW I.TPBXSKS. Sir. Hugo Lippert applied for a bottle license for his store in Thames-shvct.— '"'■>>■• Chairmen .said that the applicant had frequently applied for a license, hutthe OoiuD could not holdout much hope of the application being granted. The Conn could not accede to the request. _ Mr. John M-Dowell applied for a bottle license for his store iu Thames-street. Mr. O'Meagher appeared iu support of the application, and-said the store in question was that for which a license had

been previously held by Mr. W. Jamieson. He also read ;i memorial in favor of the license being granted signed by a large number of persons.—The Chairman, after consultation with his coadjutors, said tha; in consideration of the premises having previously been licensed the Court would grant the license. They did it merely on the ground that, as they had been previously induced to grant the license for the premises on the score of it beino j necessary, they must do so in the preseir j instance. It was not because there was any preference for the applicant. The license was granted. TRANSFERS. On the application of Mr. O'Meagher. the transfers of-the following licenses were granted :—Northern Hotel, from Mr. P. H. Blakesley to Mr. Alex. Johnston ; Shamrock Hotel, from Mr. E. Hudson to Mr. Geo. H. Amos ; Empire Hotel, from Mr. Alex. Paterson to Mr. Chas. H. Dodge. The Court then rose.
