Digby and another, being a suit for divorce on the ground of adultery, was brought by the husband. The parties were married in Victoria in 1865, and afterwards lived in New Zealand. The respondent left her husband in 1876, and joined Wheatleigh's Dramatic Company, in Australia, under the name of Nelly Daly. The adultery took place in Dunedin, with a member of that Company, and was conclusively proved by witnesses examined. Ther« was no appearance of either respondent or co-respondent. The jury fonnd for the petitioner without, leaving the box, and also found that there was no evidence offered in support of the pleas <>f the respondent. The Court made the usual decree. A statement appears in this morning's papers stigmatising the telegram recently published that the Christchurch Footballers kicked over a pie-stall in Dunedin as an atrocious libel. Designs are called for a fonr-storey hotel, which will be the largest in Christchurch, and which is to be built on the American principle. Mr. "Wearing, of the Terminus Hotel, is to be the proprietor. September 3. The Mayor has convened a meeting for to-morrow evening to consider the newtariff. At the meeting of the Waste Lands Board yesterday IG,OOO acres of land were disposed of, the sale realising L 33,000. The prospectus for a Temperance Hotel on a large scale, will be issued in a few days. The tide rose IS inches above the ordinary level at Simmer on Sunday. It is supposed to have been occasioned by a tidal wave.

NEW PLYMOUTH. September 2. A farm owned by Major Stapp. at Ti Koeangi, was sold to-day to Mr. Taylor, of Canterbury, for Lll 10s per acre. At the sale of Stafford, the new Government township on Mountain Road, a number of quarter-acre sections were sold, one fetching LISO. The total amount of the sale was L 2215. Tile survey partly on Waimatc Plains has shifted from Kapokaimi to Otakino to-day, whence they will work on towards Onmtago, the furthermost boundary. Te Wiieti says that the 17th March next will be the Aceldama, or day of blood, and after that day the death of himself and his brother at the entering of the gate (Parihaka), evidently referring to the amnesty to take place at the meeting called by Rewi on the 18th March. At the last meeting lie said, " Let the stirvej'ors go on this land, it is still time. 1 am going to portion out not only the la-ins of New Z aland, but the lands of ti.e world." This is stated by those who are his interpreters to mean that he will advocate the individualisatiou of the title of the lands. 0 AUCKLAND September 2. A public meeting to-day passed a resolution of congratulation to Lords Beaconsfield and Salisbury on the result of the Berlin Conference.
