DUNEDIN. Jnly 31. As the accounts stated that Onalmers owed Clark over L 30,000, the actual settlement of the case means the payment of over LIOO,OOO. Messrs. Proudfoot and M'Kay are the successful tenderers for the Tapanui Brancli Railway. The contract amount is LGljoOO, anil the time for completion is 22 months. The contract was signed yesterday. There were four other tenders. Benjamin has taken law proceedings against the Christchiirch Sun. °An action for slander is likely to eventuate out of the stoppage of the land sale on Monday.
