WELLINGTON. June 7. The Government are going to arrange for the Wakatipu to take the Southern mails to-morrow, and discharge the vessel at Lyttelton on Sunday, so that she will get to Dunedin the first thing on Monday morning.
In connection with the appointment of a new District Judge for Wellington district, it is understood that lie will have io perform all the varied duties which at present devolve upon Mr. Crawford, who,, besides his unties at Wellington, acts as Resident Maoist rate for the llutt. Judge Ward and Mr. Mansford are both spoken of as probable successors to Mr. Crawford.

June 8. The New Zealander announces that Thomas Anstey Mansford has been appointed District Judge for the Wellington and Wararapa district. He will probably assume his duties in about a month. Yesterday tenders were signed for the following contracts :—Extension of railway from Kai Iwi to "Waitotara (twelve miles), and the Port extension of Nelson and Foxliill railway. NEW PLYMOUTH. June 7. Mr. Sheehan left by the Hinemoa this evening for Auckland. ■ NELSON. June 8. Mr. Croucher's mill at Richmond was burned down last night. The insurance on the buildings and machinery was L4OO in the New Zealand Company. AUCKLAND. June 7. Tho L 40.000 voted by the Assmbly for Auckland, will bo paid over by the Treasury tn-morrow, to be. equally divided between the eighteen operative Counties in the Provincial District.
