SPECIAL TELEGRAMS.
[from our own correspondent.] 0 DUNEDIN. June 7. Mr. Larnach's resignation of his seat for Dunedin City is gazetted. The Times states that Mr. Mansford, of Port Chalmers, has been appointed Resident Magistrate and District Judge for Wellington. Although Sir John Coode's report on the harbor scheme was not made public yesterday, it was current talk in town last night that it was of an adverse nature; that, among other things, it recommends the Government to reserve for railway purposes a large portion of the Board's reserve near the Cross wharf, including a site at present occupied by the offices of the Board ; and, also, that it expresses fears that the dredging operations now being carried o\it will materially affect the bar at the heads, and prove otherwise detrimental. The traffic on the South line is interrupted to-day owing to the Stirling Flat section being submerged. There are signs of it clearing up. At the City Police Court, to-day, Henry Pa<*c Smith was committed for trial for robbery from the person.
