[PEII PRESS AGKNCY. "j WELLINGTON. April 5. In the Supreme Court t-day Mr Barton moved for a rule nisi, calling upon T. K. M'Donald, R. Kent, C. M'Kirdy, and J. Bethune, to show cause why an injunction should not be issued against them for contempt of Court, in selling the shares of the plaintiff, E. T. Gill on, in the Arr/vs Newspaper Company, the matter being then in the hands of the Court. In support of his application he read an affidavit by G. L'Estrange Barton, showing he had handed to the auctioneer, Mr Bethune, a protest against the sale on behalf of Mr Gillon. The motion was ultimately adjourned until Tuesday. WANGANUI. April 5. ■The Wallace was towed" in by the steamer Murray, which was sent from Nelson. The Wallaoe left Nelson on ITueisday, and on Wednesday morning, when about 25 miles N.E. ; of Stephen's Island, it was found-that the paddle shaft was injured. It was disconnected, and they tried to proceed with one engine, and afterwards by sail; got within four miles of Wanganui Heads, dropped anchor and signalled for assistance. She rode easily at anchor. She will go back to Nelson for repairs.

HOKITIKA. April 5. The jury in Ryan's case have been locked lip since 5 o'clock. There appears no likelihood of an agreement, '" v April G. In Ryan's trial for murder, the jury, after being, looked up all night, could not agree to a verdict. They were equally divided on the issue,and were therefore discharged. The Court adjourned till the 20th April.

Some days ago Mr. Brown, editor of the Kwihara Times, issued a summons against Father, Henneberry for slander, with damages laid at U,OOO, but it was not served, in hopes that Father Henmbery would retract.
