RATHER ROUGH.
TO THE KIUTOR OF TIIK KVBNINIi MAII,.
Sns.— Sonic weeks ago a letter appeared in your columns suggesting tlio advisability of a water-cart being procured liy the Council. 1 know it is rather presumptuous (to write mildly) to suggest anything to our worthy Corporation, and that anything which docs not emanate from their noble and expansive brains, meets with tho contempt it undoubtedly deserves so I wish to know cannot a meeting of ratepayers be held and sixpenny contributions b« collected to purchase a water-cart. The shopkeepers would be delighted to suKscribe, and on such a day as this the expense of paying for the hire of a man and horse would lie gladly borne by the business people in thecentre of the town ; and oh ! what a multitude of (to say nothing of the waste of Mine iu benedictions) wouUl be saved. Let somebody set the ball rolling, and an. a subscriber they can put down Gonfii.KH.
