(per press Aoiircr.) Wellington, April 4. A correspnndeiit of the Press Agency, writing from Cape Town, under date 22nd January, says : The wool market has been practically unchanged during the past week or so. Snow white is at last, rates, while ordinary scoured has been withdrawn at Is 7d ; a fair lot of scoured realised Is s|d. Average fleece, washed, realised 10d to lOid. There is a good demand for fine grease. Some fair average grease, tolerably light, fetched 6id, and heavier lots 6£d to 6§d, inferior going slowly at Mohair is weaker, »»* li'tle has been offer d ; a bale of middling realised Is 6|d ; averaging 3£ to j 4|lb., have been sold at, 4d to 4id ppr ' lb. ; a pare 1 of 3214 sold at, 3£d~; goat skins sold at 4-JI per lb. ; angoras averaging 2f to 2£ per lh., sold fieely at 7£d to 7£d per lb. ; dry sound hides,

fetching 4d to 5-£ d ; wet trade bull, at 3d to 3|d per lb. ; large heavy horns bringing Sfd to 9£d ; lighter sorts, 6|d to 7£d p.-r Hi. The Eastern districts of the Colony are suffering from severe and protracted drought; transport is very high, and some districts are running short of supplies. Cuttle and 3lieep are reported dying in large numbers. The Kaffirs are at, present in rebellion against tlie Colonial Government, and have entirely neglected agricultural operations ; consequently, grain is likely to be scarce and dear. The Imperial and Colonial forces have been vigorously operating against the rebellious Kaffirs during the past week. A large capture of cattle has been made, and many of the enemy killed. Volunteers are flocking from every portion of the Colony to the frontier.
