STRANGE ACCIDENT ON A RAILWAY.
Wa>"gaxui, April 1. A commercial traveller named Hart, representing Messrs. Guthrie and Larnncli. Dunedin, while coming in by rail, was standing on the platform of the carriage. an 4 when, crossing tbebridye over the river was seized with vertigo, lost his balance, and fell from the carriage into the river. He si ruck his head when falling, and ftoaterl. Mr. Arthur Kilgou.r, a fellowpassenger, jumped from the train as soon as it ci-ossed the bridge, rushed down the bank, thr.nv off his coat, lumped in, and swam out ti; the body. He seized it, and commenced to bring it in, and whan haltway to the bank be was joined by Mr. Charles Chevannes, and between them Hart was brought safely to the bank. He has since recovered, and is goin<r on favourably. The action of Mr. Juk'our was warmly praised as being exceedingly plucky, and worthy of the medal of the Humane Society.
