NORTH OTAGO HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY'S SHOW.

_♦ ! This show was re-opened again this afternoon, when the Society was favoured with fine weather. The consequence was that a great many persons visited the Volunteer Hall who were precluded from doing so on Saturday, owing to the heavy J rain. In addition to the line display made on Saturday, a large number of 1 persons fowarded a considerable quantity of fresh exhibits, and thereby added greatly to the excellence of the show. We are now able to give the res\iltsof several competitions which we were unable to give in our last issue. In the first place, we may mention that Mr. H. Connell is the winner of the gold medal given for the largest prize-taker at the two shows, the number of points gained by him being a long way ahead of those of the other competitors. The medals given in the various classes were won by the following exhibitors : Gardeners : Pot Plants and Cut Flowers— Silver medal, Mr. H. Connell. Fruit and Vegetables—Silver medal, Mr. H. Connell ; "bronze medal, Mr. T. Hartley. Amateurs : Pot Plants and Cut Flowers—Silver medal, Mr. M. Spratt. Fruit and Vegetables—Silver medal, Mr. M. Clydesdale ; bronze medal, Mr. J. Fraser. The following is the report of the Committee appointed to judge the cottage gardens:— The Committee appointed for the purposs of judging cottage gardens report having visited the gardens three times—once previous to the i-'pring Show, about three weeks ago, and again yesterday, and after giving the matter careful consideration award an 'oliow.s : —lst prize, Mr. M. Spratt ; 2nd do., Mr. J as. Henderson ; 3rd do., Mr. Diirmm and Mr. Welsh equal. In making their awards, the ommitteo would remark that on each occasion on which they visited Mr. spi-ar.t's place the display of flowers and general neatness was good. Mr. Henderson's display of flowers was hardly up to Mr. Spratt's, but the garden generally was very neat; and in the case of Messrs. Bignan and Welsh, the improvement was more noticeable when they concluded their labours.
