The' lease of Section S, Block XXVII, from Mr. .T. Venning to Mr. J. Robertson, was agreed to. Mr. J. M'jSiab wrote applying for fourteen dav:-' extension of time to complete the gasholder contract. The application was granted. A letter was read from W. W. T.emon, asking for an increase i'.f remuneration for lighting the town lamps. —Referred to the Gas Committee, with power to act. Mr. Barclay wrote re account for culvert in Steward-st'-ees. and applying for payment for extra work aleged to have been performed.—Referred to the Engineer for his report. The tender-of Mr. O. Amos for the lease of the cottage at the Gasworks (LI per week) i was accepted. The report of the Public Works Committee was rend and adopted. The accounts as ccrtitied by the Finance Committee were passed for payment,. and the Council adjourned.
