WAITAKI COUNTY COUNCIL.

The following is the continuation of the report of yesterday's meeting, which was crowded out of last evening's issue : A letter was read from Messrs. Hunt and JetiVey in regard to certain posts and rails supplied for the Mahouo Pound, and requesting the Council to settle for same. It was resolved that Mr. Craig should lie empowered to deal with the matter. . Mr. • Burnett, Assistant Engineer for constructed railways, wrote requesting the Council to alter main road-line in order not to interfere with the proposed railway siding at Black Point, and made (suggestions with regard to same. The letter was referred to the Council's Engineer. Mr. Robert Garrow wrote stating that the Kakanui I'oad Hoard hud appointed a Ranger for the district, and asking what proportion of the same the Council would be prepared to pay. It was resolved to pay half the amount. - A letter was read from Mr. Robert Garron an behalf qf the Waitaki Road Board, accepting 'the Council's offer of L 275 for roaclrline through Papakaio -Preemptive On the motion of Mr. Dunoan, it was resolved to call for fresh tenders for the construction of the Otematata bridge, the contract having been abandoned by Messrs. Jordon and Stratford. Mr. Murcott moved—That the Engineers prepare plans and specifications for a foot-bridge over the Little Kuri river, Hampden, to bo connected with present bridge. Tenders to be called for the erection of the bridgp meeting of the Council.—Agree.'.' l !.'. Mr. Murcott moved—That this Council take into consideration the question of payment of members. It was resolved that members attending meetings should receive one guinea per. day, inclusive of travelling expenses. Mr. Murcott gave notioe to move at next meeting—"That the bond held by the Council as security from the Treasurer be reduced to L 500." It was resolved to grant the Road Inspector L2O as a bonus for extra past services. A number of accounts, amounting to LIG73 18s. 4d., were passed for payment, and after a vote of thanks to the Chair, the Council rose,
