LATEST WAR AND GENERAL NEWS. [reutee's telegrams, per press agency.] London, February 4. The debate in the Commons on the war credit was continued to-day. Mr. Gladstone suggested that instead of granting a special war credit, an address be voted assuring the Queen of the united support of the nation for the maintenance of British interests. Mr. Gathorne Hardy insisted on the ere Jit. The debate was adjourned in consequence of Russia's acceptance of the proposed European Conference. January 31. A despatch from Mr. La-yard, dated 29th January, announces that the Porte instructed the Turkish Commissioners on the 23rd to accept peace conditions. Russia had given no reply on February 1. Mr. Foster moved in the House of Commons the rejection of the motion for supplies for a military grant of six millions. Mr. Cross stated that the object of the British Government was to secure a lasting peace. If the Russian advance were persevered in, the demand of England must be held as a final settlement. The House agreed, to adjourn the debate until the following day.
