ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.

" RESIGNING IN STYLE." TO THE EDITOK OP TITE TCVENINCi MAIL. Sir, —I was somewhat surprised, on reading the Times of this morning, to find a paragraph subjoining a letter bearing some slight resemblance to one anil: by me to " one of our local Companies." Mr. Barnum, at a lato temperance meeting, quoted Shakepeare thus—- " There ia a divinity that shapes our ends rough Hew them as wo will," So it is frequently with our letters as they appear in print, though I do not think, in this case, the blame is to be credited to that amusing little dev —I beg pardon —divinity, that sits perched on the back of the editorial chair of the North Otmjo Times. The writer of the letter referred to, was vain enough to imagine there was a spice of humour in his careless effusion, but on seeing his inky offspring this morning, was led to exclaim

" It's not a bit like iw With regard to those members of " one of our local Companies," who thought it. no breach of courtesy to publish a letter of no general interest, without the sanction of the writer, I t' ink. since it seems to have afforded t.' em considerable amusement. it would have been but, fair to the writer and the public, to have giv- n the original in for publication before supplementing their mirth with the " flowin' bole." instead of sending a garbled, hashed-up affair, which was the joint concoction of the united brains of two or three choice spirits of " one of our local Companies." Apologising for trespassing on your valuable space, I am, &c., M. T.
