Wellington, November 14. The House met at 2.30 to-day.

In reply to Mr. Hislop, Mr. Larnach said they would eaiise enquiries to be made regarding the expenses incurred by local bodies in surveying the Oamaru-Naseby railway line, to see whether the Government should contribute.

In reply to a question from Mr. Stafford, as to thenewspaper reports of the obstructiveness of certain officials towards Ministers, the Premier said the reports were not published by the authority of the Government. Mr. Murray moved (1), " That each county in ISTew Zealand should have a permanent inalienable endowment of Crown Lands in proportion to the area of such county, and the endowment where possible to be within the county ; (2) That each municipality in New Zealand should have a permanent inalienable endowment of public lauds in proportion to population, and the endowment where available to be within the municipality." Mr. O'Rorke opposed the motion, and Messrs. Burns, Stevens, Montgomery, Moorhouse, Macandrew, and Bowen supported it. The debate was interrupted. Last night's sitting— The following Bills were read a third time .-—The Little Paver Country Preserve Exchange Bill, the Balclutha Athenaeum Bill, The Kakanui Harbour Board Bill, The Waikouaiti Athenanim Bill, The Land Borough Bill, and The jSTew Plymouth Endowment Bill.

The Timaru Harbour Board Endowment Bill was read a second time.

Mr. Sheehan opposed goinsr into Committee on the Disqualification Bill No. 1 (Mr. Kelly's), as it proposed to entirely alter the present law on the subject, especially in repealing the enactment by which members of Parliament were ineligible for permanent Civil Service appointments for a year aiter ceasing to be members. After a slight discussion, the Bill was thrown out by 33 to 10. The South Duueuiu Reserves Bill (Mr. Seaton) was read a second time and passed by a majority of 20 to 13, and referred to the Waste Lands Committee. The Taranaki Country Reserves Bill was passed through Committee. The House rose at 12.40 a.m.
