PARLIAMENT.
Wellington, November 7. After the division was taken in the House yesterday, a good deal of discussion arose on points of order —notably, on Mr. M'Lean's motion, "That as the Governor has not a majority of this House, it should immediately resign." Mr. Reynolds having raised the question as to whether this proposition was in order, the Speaker took time to look up authorities, and afterwards declared that it could not be received. The want of confidence motion was then dispensed of, both the motion and amendment being negatived. At the evening sitting, a lot of miscellaneous business was got through in Committee.
Several new bills were introduced.
In reply to Mr. Fox, Sir George Grey said communications with the Governor as to privilege were still passing, as soon as the matter closed he would inform the House what had taken place. Several bills not of general interest were read a second time. The House rose at 12.45 a.m.
