DUNEDIN.

November 3,

The second trial of Proudfoot has terminated without a verdict having been arrived at, the jury being again unable to agree. They were discharged at 10.30 o'clock this morning. His Honor ordered Proudfoot to be released on the same amount of bail as before, contingent to an appeal at the January sitting of the Court. His Honor also said that the Crown Solicitor might make any motion he deemed lit in the meantime.

Messrs. Leary and Woodland have been nominated to the mayoralty. The poll is fixed for Thursday.
