POLITICAL SITUATION.

[by telegraph, from our own correspondent. ] Wellington, October 11, 7.30 p.m. Sir George Grey received a deputation consisting of Messrs. L-vrnacli and Thomson, at iiis house, and definitely accepted the Premiership. He will arrange the Ministry to-morrow. It is believed that one condition of his accepting office will be a promise from the Governor of dissolution in case of defeat. October 12. The following ar<? the names of the new Ministry as arranged up to the prese.it : Sir George Grey, Premier. Mr. Laruach. Minister for Public Works.

Mr. Sheehan, Native ami Defence Minister and Minister for Justice.

Mr. Macandrew, Minister for Lands and Immigration. The Hon. Colonel Whitmore, Colonial Secretary and loader in the Upper House.

Mr. Montgomery has been offered the Colonial Tre'asnrership, and the portfolio of Postmaster-General and Commissioner of Telegraphs lies between Messrs. Gisborne and Sharpe. Tue new Ministry is expected to last through the session. In the House of Representatives tonight, Mr. Larnach will make a statement to the effect that he had advised the Governor to send for Sir George Grey to form a Ministry. Sir George Grey will then announce the names of the new Ministry, which will be g; zetted to-mor-row. Tiie House will to-night adjourn till Tuesday, when the new Ministry will be ready for business.

It is stated on good authority that after various attempts on the part of Mr. Lirnach to form a Ministry, at a meeting yesterday afternoon it was finally carried by a majority of 2" to 5 that Sir George Grey should be entrusted with the leadership ; and further resolutions were carried to the effect that Sir George Grey should inform his Excellency the Governor that he was prepared to form a Ministry on condition that his Excellency would grant a dissolution in the event of Sir George Grey not being able to command a majority in the House. Sir George Grey will, accordingly, probably wait upon the Governor to-day, ami inform the House of tlie result of his labours this evening.
