Tiiiers, ex-President of the French Republic, has died from apoplexy. [Special to Dunedin "Star."] London, September 4. Sulieman Bey engaged tho Russians at Plevna, and succeeded in routing them. A great battle afterwards took place on the road to Gabrova, the forces engaged being 20,000 a-side. The Turks were repulsed with the loss of 2,000 men. THE WOUL SALES. [special to tue " MAIL."] London, September 3. Scoured wool shows an average decline of Id. to lid., and ileeced (in grease) of },d. to Id., as compared with the opening rates of the presnit series. Superior lleece and greasy are une'ianged.
