THE TEMPERANCE CONFERENCE. July 17. The Conference for the suppression of intemperance has concluded its sitting. A second draft petition to be submitted to the Legislature was adopted, wit';i the amendment that a clause should be added declaring the present constitution of the Licensing Court unsatisfactory. The members for the city were requested to take charge of the petition, and support it to the utmost of their power. It was also resolved to establish, a S e'ety, and a Committee iv gazette! ministers of religion, as well as laymen, was appointed to carry out the resolution. It was also carried—" That the Conference thinks it desirable that no new publicans' licenses should be issued until after next session of Parliament, and that this be conveyed to the Licensing Bench."
