NORTH OTAGO TURF CLUB.

MEETING OP COMMITTEE. The Committee of the Turf Club met in the Empire Hotel last night. There were present—Messrs. Lumsden, Vice-Presi-dent (in the chair), Longford, Ronayne, Lintott, Dooley, Robertson, Taylor, Blakesley, Grant, Peyman, and Greenfield (Secretary). MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. NEW MEMBERS. Messrs. Edward Rowland, Wm. Gardiner, L. Grant, and Captain Dundas were balloted for and elected members of the Club. MEMBER OF COMMITTEE. On the motion of Mr. Ronayne, seconded by Mr. Taylor, Mr. Shalders was elected a member of Committee. RULES FOR THE MEETING. A letter was read from Mr. F. Digby, Secretary to the Canterbury Racing Club, stating that the New Zealand Racing Rules had not been finally passed, having been referred to England and Australia for opinions as to their merits. Under these circumstances it was not thought advisable to adopt the new rules this year. Mr. Taylor proposed— 11 That this Jockey Club adhere to the Dunedin Jockey Club rales during the forthcoming race meeting, in consequence of the new rules not having been brought into force." Seconded by Mr. Grant, and carried. PLANS." Plans and specifications for the erection of a grand stand and saddling paddock, &c., were received from Messrs. Hardy and Johnstone, and a preliminary sketch from Mr. JBrindley. Mr. Johnstone and Mr. Hardy having given all necessary information in reference to their plans, It was proposed by Mr. Lintott, seconded by Mr. Taylor, and carried, " That Mi*. Hardy's plan be accepted, and that the bonus be paid to him." SITE FOR THE STAND. A long conversation followed as to the best site for the Stand, and it was ultimately resolved that the Committee should visit the ground and report to the meeting on Tuesday next. TENDERS. It was resolved to call for tenders for the erection of saddling paddock, stewards' stand, and fencing, to be in by Tuesday. After some routine business had been transacted, the meeting adjourned.
