SECOND DAY. p Duntroon, 2.30 p.m. There were only 300 persons present on the course this afternoon. The weather was somewhat cloudy. The first event was the Handicap Hurdle Race of 40 sovs. ; distance, 2 miles, over 8 flights of hurdles, 3ft. 6iu. in height. Nomination, £1 ; acceptance, £2 2s. ; open to all horses. ~ W. M'Kay's ch g Banjo 1 ~ W. M'Kay's b g Mutineer ... 2 ~ A. Bell's b g Larrikin 3 „ W. M'Kay's b g Bob Apples ... 0 „ J. A. Sutton's ch g Blood Royal. 0 All the horses entered on the card faced the starter. Banjo went oif at a fine pace, and took the timber in good style, never baulking onc-j. He won by a distance. Blood Royal wenfc very badly, and baulked at every j map, and as a consequence was never in tiie race. Waitaki Jockey Club Handicap of 50 sovs., wit a a sweep of 1 so v. each, the sweep to go the second horse ; distance, If miles ; the winner of the Cup to carry 71b. extra. Nomination, £1 Is. ; acceptance, £2 2s. ; open to all horses. Mr. J. Stephenson's b g Rob Roy ... 1 ~ W. Swans oil's c!i g Sir VViiliam ... 2 ~ J. C. Hill's b g Unknown ... 3 ~ M. M'Kellar's b m Minnie ... 0 ~ J. H. Lunn's b m Nectar ... 0 ~ A. Bell's b g Wild Rose ... ... 0 Exile, Banjo, and Blue Peter were scratched. This was a magnificent race. The lot got away well together. After a most exciting race between Rob Roy and Sir William, the former won by a head on the post.
