[per press agency.] * Wellington, Thursday. RAPE. At the Supreme Court, James Skinner, charged with conunitting a rape upon his stepdaughter, a child of tender years, was found guilty of attempted rape, and this morning sentenced to ten years' penal servitude. The prisoner endeavoured tomake out that the charge was the result' of conspiracy between his wife and. daughter, as he and his wife had not been living happily for sometime. He said he had aleven children dependent upon _hini; for bread, eight being under and one was an infant. - J^?
