THE WAIMATE RAILWAY.
His Worship the Mayor has kindly handed to us for publication the following letter, which he has received from the Minister of Public Works, in reference to the completion of the Waitaki and Timaru line : Public Works Office, Wellington, July 3, 1876. Sir, —I am directed by the Hon. the Minister for Public Works to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 21st June, enclosing sundry resolutions relative to the completion of the line between Waitaki and Timaru, passed at a public meeting held recently at Oamaru, and in reply to inform you that the specifications, &c., for the completion of the portion specially referred to are in preparation, and will, the Minister expects, be ready during the present month, I have the honor to be, Sir, Your obedient Servant, J. W. Knowles, Under Secretary. His Worship the Mayor of Oamaru, Chairman.
