OAMARU HARBOUR BOARD.

The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the Board took place yesterday afternoon. Present: His Worship the Mayor (in the chair), Messrs. Reid, Lees, Borrie, Menlove, Steward, Meek, and the Secretary. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and the outward correspondence approved of.

A letter was read from Messrs. Walkem and Peynian, forwarding a proposal for the construction of an additional length of breakwater. The basis of an argument was adopted, subject to certain modifications to be hereafter arranged. A discussion ensued with regard to the landed endowment proposed to be asked for during the present Session, and the Secretary was directed to advise the members for the district in the General Assembly of the wishes of the Board as to the land desired to be secured. It was resolved—-" That two large photographic views of the town and harbor works be obtained and handsomely framed, and forwarded to the General Government, to be hung in the Parliamentary Library." A communication from the Municipal Council, re Powder Magazine, was read, and it was resolved—"That the Council be informed that the Board is willing to assume charge of a powder magazine, to be formed on the cliff round the point by the breakwater." Several accounts were passed for pajrment, and the Board adjourned.
