SUBSIDY FOR HOSPITAL. A letter was read from Mr. J. Lemcn Treasurer of the Hospital, applying f or £3OO voted by the Council for a fever iranl at the Hospital. TOWN SURVEYOR'S REPORT. The following report was read :—■ Engineer's Office, Oamaru, 22nd June, 1816. To His Worship the Mayor and Councilloi Gentlemen, —In compliance with your £ structions, tenders have been invited fort! construction of the different works auti rised to be done in diverting the Oantf Creek, and forming Steward-street, Medw( street, and Post Office right-of-way. ; also for the formation of roadway in. G' £ street. A flat metalled crossing 'has been formed front of Mr. M'Kay's premises, corner; Severn-street and Wansbeck-street, w will answer present requirements. The steep excavations in upper Arun-stre have been properly sloped down, and stjj have been put in Arun-street at the juncfc with Tees-street. . The lower part of Severn-street will > metalled in the course of ten days or so. I would suggest that portions of the up? part of Severn-street be filled in on the W side, and afterwards metalled ; the pres* metalled roadway not being sufficiently in* for the traffic.
