SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
;. —— ❖ of the Oamaru School Committee was held last evening, at the Secretary's office. Present: Messrs. G-. Sumpter (in the chair), Fleming, Headland, Falconer, Locke, Aitken, arid Meek. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. A letter from the Rector was read re the appointment of pupil teachers, when it was resolved that the Secretary write to the Board of Education' intimating that the rerjapst to ask the Board's sanction to the appointment of Miss Nicliol and Miss Robertson had inadvertently been omitted, and applving for their salaries now due. It was moved by Mr. Headland, seconded by Mr. Fleming, and carried, " That the winter holidays.vof two weeks commence from Friday, 30th June." On the motion of Mr. Fleming, seconded by Mr. Aitken, it was decided that Miss Kanahan be appointed schoolmistress, subject to the approval of the Board of Education. There were seven applications for the appointment of second master, and after due consideration, it was proposed by Mr. Fleming, seconded by Mr. Aitken, and carried, "That Mr. David Todd be appointed, subject to the sanction of the Board of Education. The meeting then terminated.
