WHEN Royal Silk won the Champion Three-year-old Handicap at Addington on Saturday last and compassed a mile and a-half m 3.22 1/5 he equalled Purser's record over a similar journey m New Zealand for horses of their age. Royal Silk began quickly and took the lead before a furlong was covered, never to relinquish it. His performance was heightened by the resolute manner m which he answered the call over the last furlong', and he crossed the line full' of vigor. Judged by his final effort two miles will hot hold any terrors for him next season. High honors also must go to Ngingongingo, which conceded Royal Silk 24yds. and got to within two and ahalf lengths of him. Ngingongingo covered the mile and a-half m 3.20 4/5, i. .
