IS IN BOOM AGAIN

Paganelli Is After Jackson Stakes

Paganelli's dual victory at Taranaki makes it plain that at straight-out weight-for-age m the Jackson Stakes at Wanganui the opposition are up against it to stop his winning trot. TN the Flying on opening day at New 1 Plymouth the son of Lord Quex and Ringdove lumped the steadier of 9.12 to victory from eight others. • He looked an improved horse by the race when 1 he took his second Taranaki Stakes two days later m 1.13 — time for the classic which was beaten only once, and then by himself last year when 1.12 4/5 was registered. Though he did not hop out first last Saturday, Paganelli soon raced up on the outside of Lady Quex m the lead to come away at will before the home band and win' running on from Toxeuma and Cimabue with Eaglet and Lady Quex m the rear. On that showing it certainly does not seem sound reasoning to even suggest he should not once again defeat Cimabue, which appears also m the Jackson. Tenterden, Jenny Diver and Chrysology are two-year-olds engaged on Saturday, and some hope may be carried for these newcomers, while there are others of little -known quality. Hunting Cry is also engaged, but, though good at his best, the three-year-old may lack, the brilliancy of Paganelli at beginning. Given fine weather and a solid track, Paganelli will be treated as an unbeatable proposition, and anything which ; can upend him should return the right odds* Paganelli, which so far has a record of 14 wins, 13 seconds and four thirds out of 38 starts, won the Jackson Stakes last year, and he certainly looks like adding another "Wanganui classic to his already brilliant record this coming Saturday. ,
