He is probably as well known m Wellington and Dunedin as m his home town of Balclutha, and it is possibly his connection with the educational establishments of the province of Otago which keeps him so young m spirit. In his younger days Fleming handled much "copy." Before typewriters .cams, however, he labored with pen and ink, but once put m print his writings had a fine, racy swing. For many years he played his part m country journalism. Politics, lodge affairs, sport, educational and military matters and farming have all claimed his attention through a vigorous career. . •
