APPLE RINGS

DEQUIRED: Two cups water, 2 cups ** sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 8 apples, 2 sticks cinnamon, little red' coloring.

Make a syrup of water, sugar, salt and cinnamon, cooking: about ten minutes. Pare and slice apples threequarters of an inch thick while syrup comes to the boil. Then add color and apple slices to the syrup, and cook Blowly until the apple is soft and red. Lift out and place on greased plate to cool. Cut an additional apple into syrup and boil. When it reaches jellying point strain into a glass. Serve the apple rings as a garnish round hot boiled ham, pouring the jelly over the meat.
