Among the famous players who have skipped teams which have won the honors m the past are Surman and Rankln, of Mount Eden, MacFarlane, of Rotorua, Ellison, of Devonport, "Wakerley, of Rocky Nook, Crowley, of Tauranga, Jury, of Ponsonby, Norrle Bell, for Hamilton, V. Casey, G. R. Hosking and H. Clarke, of Carterton, Crawford, of Karori, M. Walker and A. Parker, of Auckland and Pickering, of Palmerston North. ■ This year's tournament is no exception to the rule m the matter of entry of teams. : It is divided into five sections of eleven teams each, with eleven rounds. Most of the teams are well constructed m their front ranks, and should give the most lively of games.
