Galloping Trotter Disqualified

(By "The Toff.") TN the Progressive Trotters' Handicap at Wellington, Dipnoi finished third. During the contest he did a considerable amount of galloping. ' The stewards met shortly after the race to consider Dipnoi's 'exhibition and, after hearing evidence, they decided to disqualify Dipnoi for the race and to fine his driver £2 for failing to bring the horse back to its gait when it went to a break. > / The Wellington officials are to be commended for their action. Frequently trotters break and gallop , over too much ground before being brought back, to their proper gait. A few similar decisions like that arrived at by the Wellington Club will do much to rid the sport of "galloping" trotters. ' .
