(By Cable.— From "N.Z. Truth's" Special , Sydney Rep.) After all, Charlie Purdy did not , have to forego his engagement at Leichhardt on Friday' night last. THE Welshman, Billy. Thomas, drop- *■ ped out, but Tommy Fairhall filled the bill. Purdy was beaten on points after a great fight. The New Zealander was too heavy to be m the best- shape, but provided his share of .the many thrills. Purdy has bought a share m Nick Winter's, billiard saloon and it " may pay Charlie better to depend on that business than fighting if he cannot strip fitter. Since the .Hancock hidings Charlie has lost a lot of speed and cleverness, and henow takes punr' ishment that he once avoided. . It would seem that the two knockouts he suffered haVe taken away all his confidence. At the Stadium on Saturday night Vie. White won the decision' in a great fight with Young Siki. Since returning from his trip to Wellington' White has won ' the flyweight title from Teddy. Green. White is now dual champion — paper and fly.
