Knows His Timber
{N the vast timber milling industry on the West Coast of the South Island, there is no more popular personality than Alfred : Birchfield, who keeps a watchful eye on the interests of the Lake Brunner Sawmilling Company's mills at Ruru and Bellhill. Though not originally a Coaster, he has fashioned himself on true Coast traditions, and carries the respect not only of his staffs, but also of everyone \yho'i has experienced the grip of his commodious right hand. But when it comes to timber he has no peer on the Coast for knowledge and experience, and the interests of his firm are favored by his intimate personal acquaintance with everybody -yvho matters.
