GETTING IN CONDITION
(By Cable — From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Sydney Representative.) NO sooner had George Price returned from his homeland, than Gesto struck form, and he won, m runaway fashion, a welter at Rosehill on Saturday. The gelding made a great recovery the past three weeks and won with "ditto repeato" written all over him. A fast gallop the previous Thursday prompted, the betting plunge and Gesto was backed down to a very short-priced favorite. Eden Hall was a runner m the Flying. He looked particularly fit, but never showed up. Tha Quin Abbey gelding should win a mi.d.dle distance handicap during the autumn carnival. Raasay's former owner got out 'of it well with the three-year-old. He started m the Dundas seven furlongs and was backed. He never was prominent. Raasay should not trouble Doncaster candidates. . • Several top-liners had an outing at Rosehill. The Metropolitan winner, Jocelyn, enhanced her Sydney Cup prospects by finishing with express speed m the Dundas, coming from nearly last to fourth. • Winalot has thrown off his soreness and will be ready for the weight-for-age battles at Easter. Sion, the Doncaster favorite, had an airing .and shaped satisfactorily. He was much above himself and came with a great rattle at the death knock, just missing a place. Jocelyn and Winalot will trouble Limerick m the weight-for-age events at Randwick. Both have improved a great deal since the spring.
