But Walked Into Lion's Den SCOTT'S MISTAKE (From "N.Z. Truth's" Dunedin Rep.) By calling at the Dunedin Polipe Court the other day to lodge a complaint. Gideon James Scott, an Invercargill timber salesman, saved the police a lot of bother. CHORTL.Y after Scott had called and departed from the station, the officer m charge suddenly remembered that an apprehension -warrant from Invercargill for the arrest of a man named Scott had recently come to hand; '■■:■■■>'- .-•->■ • '■: to. Gicleoni Scott's place of reaidence ;< by the' poilce- caused him to be bfouifht before Mr. H. W. Bundle, S.M., at the dis police court m connection with ah information laid by' his wife. Senior-sergeant Quartermain stated that Mrs. Scott had applied for the apprehension of her husband as she had every reason to suspect that he was trying a get-away to Australia, and that he had not made any provision for herself and the children. The police officer intimated that Scott was associated with another woman who had been represented as his wife when the police first made inquiries'. For Scott, Mr. J. P. "Ward stated that there was evidently some mistake, as defendant had attended to his domestic affairs before leaving Invercai-gill. ■ On his behalf, Mr. Allan Hogg told the bench that provision, m the shape of certain orders, had been arranged for the wife. . • Subsequently, an order for separation, guardianship and maintenance at £ 3 a week, was agreed to.
