Whenuanui will bob up any time now. * # * Sing-er, the latest addition to W.Man tie's string, is coming on nicely. • * * # Since New Plymouth, Royal Finance has been suffering from a cold and the filly has been eased up. * ' * .. * ■ Merxcis and Melissa are being steadily at work. Both have improved. *. * * Roj r al Mint is pottering about at New Plymouth. J. O'Neill will not ask him to do much till the tracks are softer. * * # Hawera is preparing a big contin-r gent for the Rangitikei and Opunake meetings, whilst Hawera stables will also be worthily represented at Wellington. * * * J. O'Driscoll is very disappointed with the showing made by Polyphemus as he had taken a lot of trouble to get the Polydamon gelding well. Polyphemus will be given a chance over country m May. * * » Vivo is another Polydamon- that is shaping well over the hurdles . for a novice. She should be about right for Opunake. *** . • . Ernie George had Hipo very well and looked like, picking up a race soon. His fall at Wanganui v was unfortunate.
Mendip is coming- on nicely. His turn will not be long. •*. * • Mrs. W. D. Graham has sold Miss Mercia, and the mare, which is nearly out of hacks, will be raced on the West Coast. She should pay her way m moderate company. * * * F. Tilley has always been of the opinion that High Falutin would come good, and his judgment was proved correct last week when the Grandcourt gelding- won a race each day at "Wanganui. High Falutin is owned by Russell Grace, a steward of the Wanganui Club, who races purely, for the Move of the sport. « * # Av.ro stripped well at Wanganui, but had no luck. He did not have a good passage the first day and toppled over on Saturday when going along nicely. He /will make his next appearance m the Rangitikei Cup.
