TO be truthful, the majority of en- *• thusiasts m the province fully expected Limerick to prove master of the situation, but still all hoped for the victory of George Paul's freak, and when news came through to Te Aroha, by wireless, that the challenge of the northerner had been successful, great was the glee. The freak sprinter and Owner George Paul were on everybody's lips, m spite of the fact that very few were prepared to wager m Aussie's favor. What did surprise most was the fact that Rapier was better backed on the machine than Aussie. , Evidently southerners have a bit to learn about Aussie yet. Northerners
